Can iPad Get a Trojan Virus, or is Virus and Malware something that affects only PCs, not Mac?

Contrary to popular belief and despite the fact it's a closed system, an iPad can get a trojan virus. This is more possible if your iPad is jailbroken.

If you look at Apple devices, iOS is the operating system that runs iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. OS X Lion is the operating system for the current generation of Macs.

In late 2011, a set of new trojans called Flashback.A and Flashback.C disabled XProtect auto update on the Mac. In September of the same year, an OS X Lion exploit allowed unauthorized change in user passwords.

Starting in 2010 and well into 2011, the iPad itself had to face a series of hacks, breach and intrusion attempts. One of these compromised the email addresses of 114000 iPad owners. The other one resulted in hackers exploiting a security flaw in iPad and iPhone to reveal user passwords.

Effectively, this is the iPad version of a trojan virus attack initiated via a network -- or simply put, an attempted malicious hack.

Fact is, as the popularity of Apple devices increase, the incidents of hacking, privacy breach and identity theft is also expected to increase.

This is specially true of the iPad, which is why cutting-edge security apps like HidePad are becoming popular.
